IPTV on Enigma2 and VU+ Receivers

Homes with a dish usually already have an Enigma2 satellite receiver sitting there: a VU+, Zgemma, Octagon or similar. Adding IPTV to these boxes is both possible and sensible — satellite channels and the IPTV list end up on the same remote, in the same interface.

Two methods

1. 01With a bouquet fileThe channel list is added to the receiver's own list as a bouquet. It appears as a separate group beside the satellite channels and is navigated the same way.
2. 02With an IPTV pluginOpenATV and OpenPLi images carry plugins that support Xtream login. With this method the list updates itself and the film library arrives as its own section.

Which one to pick

If you only watch live channels, a bouquet is enough and it is the steadier route. If you also want the library and the programme guide, you need the plugin. The bouquet's advantage is simplicity: the box is ready at every start and unaffected by plugin updates.

Satellite and IPTV together

Neither gets in the other's way. When bad weather takes the satellite signal down, switching to the IPTV version of the same channel is one button, and the reverse holds too. That pairing earns its keep in Scandinavia and northern Europe, where the dish signal is weak.

If the receiver's software image is old, some plugins will not install. Updating the OpenATV or OpenPLi version before you start closes most problems in advance.
