How to Watch the Champions League

·5 min read

Following several matches on the same night

The Champions League problem is not finding a channel, it is that eight matches are played the same evening. Following everything that kicks off at 22.00 Turkish time on a Tuesday or Wednesday takes a system.

A system for multiple matches

  1. 01Put the match channels in their own favourites listEuropean cup channels usually sit next to each other by number. Collecting them in one list ends the scrolling through hundreds of entries all evening.
  2. 02Mark the matches in the guideFixtures appear in the electronic programme guide before they start. Mark the ones you want and the player reminds you at kick-off.
  3. 03Decide on the second screenA phone or tablet is enough for a second match. But that is a second connection — opening two screens on one account causes cut-outs.
  4. 04Turn on catch-upIf you can open a missed match from the archive the next day, the pressure to watch everything live disappears. Archive length varies by channel.

Which commentary language?

The same match is usually carried by channels in several countries, each with its own commentary. Pick the Turkish channel for Turkish commentary, the host broadcaster for original stadium sound. Both are searchable inside the list.

The most common complaint on match nights is not "the channel won't open" but "the channel opens slowly". Usually the player's buffer is set high; lowering it in TiviMate shortens switching time noticeably.
